DevWeek! 5 days, 2 tracks, and loads of fun and interaction! This time, the 2 tracks involved the basics of Full Stack Development, Frontend, and Backend 101.

Day 1

Frontend

On Day1 , Aayushi talked about the basics of HTML and CSS. She gave the basic introduction on both of them by telling out the different tags of HTML and the styling properties in CSS. She told about how they affect the web page and how the better styling can be done so that the web page can look more attractive.

Backend

On day 1, Nishchay laid the foundation on server-side development and its basic terminologies like the client, server, web application, web server, and a web framework.
He explained different web frameworks and how’s Django better than those. He gave an introduction to Django and helped students with their setup.
He explained various modules of django like views.py, urls.py and how the framework uses these to process the request, consequently, he created a web application displaying “Hello World” and helped students tackle the problems they encountered.

DAY 2

Frontend

On day 2, Dewansh talked about different CSS styling properties. He talked about responsive versus non — responsive design. He demonstrated the usage of different viewport units. He also talked about Bootstrap 4, a responsive CSS3 and JavaScript framework used to create responsive webpages.

Day 3

Frontend

Most of the time was consumed in helping participants set up Flutter without using Android Studio. Android Studio is a great IDE, but it consumes a lot of processes making the system very slow. Therefore, Dewansh helped set up Flutter so that the participants could work smoothly using the Command Line Interface. Dewansh talked about basic Flutter Widgets like Scaffold, Text, AppBar, FloatingActionButton. He also elaborated on the necessity of where to use StatelessWidgets over StatefulWidgets.

Day 4

Frontend

On day 4, Sparsh introduced some exciting flutter widgets like SingleChildScroll, CarouselSlider, Columns, and Scaffold.
He explained how to make a simple Carousel Slider app with enabling assets and dart packages. He explained the steps of how to build the flutter app on an android device.
With the help of simple widgets, he made a “real estate” house selling app. He also gave a brief explanation of stateful and stateless widgets.

Backend

On day 4, Dewansh spoke about the structure and working of Django. He created a basic CRUD app from scratch in the hands-on session. He also spoke about basic API design and demonstrated and implemented basic GET and POST request API’s.

Day 5

Frontend

On day 5, Dewansh talked about different Flutter Widgets like Icons, FutureBuilder, StreamBuilder, CircleAvatar, SizedBox. He also talked about adding dependencies and working with pubspec.yaml .
